I'M USUALLY QUITE SHY OR TENSE UP IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA. CAN YOU HELP?
Photo sessions are relaxed and laid back. It will be more of a collaboration between us with my guidance and what looks and works best in photos. We can begin by discussing some top poses to get attention, and then start thinking about other ways to showcase yourself in a natural, relaxed way. We can also start with a coffee and chat before we start shooting if that makes you feel more comfortable.
DO YOU SHOOT INDOORS AND OUTDOORS?
I can shoot both indoors and outdoors, but I don't use flash or a studio setting. I believe it fits the brand really well as I can create natural, relaxed, unposed shots. I choose locations where you can access clean, spacious public toilets or cafe toilets if you would like to change outfits during the photoshoot. You will need one or two full body shots but the rest are taken from the waist up so when you’re planning your outfits, focus mainly on the top half and how you might change up your look quite easily without relying on full outfit changes e.g. Layering is always good - jackets, jumpers, shirts, t-shirts can be mixed and matched really easily.
DO YOU HAVE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR OUTFITS?
It is well worth the effort spending a bit of time considering this and planning what you’re going to bring, to make sure your photos are the best they can be. I recommend wearing clothes that make you feel confident and attractive. Avoid wearing anything too tight or too baggy as these don’t work well on camera. Anything which gives you a flattering shape works best.
Try and bring at least one item of clothing that’s a bright colour, so that the photos will 'pop'. You could also use accessories to change your look. It’s amazing how a change of lipstick, different hair style or wearing a hat can mix things up.
You could also bring a couple of props with you as they give you something to do with your hands and they’re a great way to tell people a bit more about your personality. Books, headphones, bikes, cameras, hats, coffee cups, newspapers, magazines, yoga mats etc. all make great props.
I HAVE PROBLEMS GETTING AROUND. CAN I STILL BOOK A SHOOT?
Please feel free to talk me through any concerns that you have at the time of booking and together we can find a location that works.
WHAT HAPPENS IF IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL RAIN AT THE TIME OF MY PHOTO SHOOT?
If the forecast predicts heavy rain/drizzle at the time of your shoot then I will contact you the day before to see if you would like to reschedule. Also, if it looks like it’s going to be freezing cold at the time of your shoot making you uncomfortable, then that’s ok too. As long as you let me know by 6pm the day before your shoot, you’re free to reschedule.
I NEED TO CANCEL OR POSTPONE MY PHOTOSHOOT. WHAT IS THE PROCESS?
Please give me as much notice as you can if you'd like to postpone and I will do what I can to arrange another suitable time. If you need to cancel, I offer full refunds right up to one week before the day of your shoot. Between 3 and 7 days of the booked shoot day I offer a 75% refund. Between 24 and 72 hours, I can offer a 50% refund and for less that 24 hours notice before the shoot day itself, I will retain all fees. Please see the terms and conditions.
CAN YOU PHOTOSHOP THAT?
I don't airbrush people in my work. My rule is to edit temporay things like spots for example, but I don't photoshop people like magazines do. It's all about authenticity and self-love. Even things like roots or overly wrinkled shirts and blouses would be difficult and time consuming to retouch as well as easily avoidable by visiting the hairdresser beforehand or ironing your clothes and using a clothing bag for outfit changes. It would also most likely more than double the delivery time of your photo gallery.
WHEN WILL THE FINAL IMAGES BE READY AND HOW DO YOU DELIVER THEM TO ME?
I use a full frame DSLR camera and capture images on large RAW files to ensure I'm working to the highest quality and then I edit and lightly retouch them in Photoshop which makes this process quite slow. It usually takes up to 7 days but may take longer at exceptionally busy periods but please bear with me.
DO I GET THE COPYRIGHT TO THE IMAGES?
The copyright legally lies automatically with the photographer as soon as the photo is taken. This is also to protect my work. However my packages include a usage license for promoting yourself and your business in print and online media. What is not allowed is commercial use (selling the images) or altering the photographs without permission.
I also do not share RAW or unedited jpg files. By booking and paying for a photo shoot, you are paying for a finished product – which includes the editing/light retouching of each image. The images captured in camera represents only about 50% of the work I do to create the final image.
